As electric vehicles become increasingly popular in Malaysia, owners are demanding faster charging speeds. While traditional home Alternating Current (AC) chargers (typically 7kW or 11kW) meet overnight charging needs, the 8–10 hour wait time has become a major pain point for owners of long-range EVs or those requiring a quick energy boost.
"I wanted my home to feel like a private fast-charging station," said Mr. Yew Choy Lam, the end-user of this project. "This way, I don't have to queue at public stations; I can get enough range in just half an hour at home." However, installing industrial-grade DC fast chargers in a private residence typically faces challenges regarding power capacity, installation space, and complexity.

High-Power DC Supplement: Unlike AC chargers that rely on the vehicle's On-Board Charger (OBC) for conversion, the PDA-20 feeds power directly to the battery. It can charge a vehicle from 30% to 80% in approximately 30–40 minutes, effectively filling the gap in home charging speeds.

The user first planned the layout of the garage wall (Photo 1). The setup integrates the Penoda 40kW DC Fast Charger cabinet alongside existing vacuum systems and power distribution boxes (including 3-phase sockets), transforming the garage into a professional EV service center.
Step 2: Precision Bracket Installation
Mr. Lam highlighted the usability of the bracket in his feedback. Photo 2 clearly shows the dedicated metal wall-mount bracket securely fixed to the wall. The clear upward arrow indicator ensures an error-free installation process, providing a solid foundation for the control cabinet.
Step 3: Flawless Operation and User Feedback
The project was completed to total satisfaction (Photo 3).
